Most dealer techs did not know how to do it, since that option was buried in the list of options in the dealer scanner/programming tool. We had to get the dealer to enable that function. When these trucks were new, the manual high idle control option was not enabled in the ECM from the factory. Now my high idle won’t work at the steering wheel and I’m wondering if being down a battery and driving it for a day with one battery may have reset something in the ecm or if the the grid heater relays are bad, maybe that would cause the high idle feature to not work? Might bring it to the dealer to see if it’s enabled but wanted to see if I could get any answers on here first. Drove it for a few days after the new battery was put in and the codes went away on there own. I got a new battery, can’t recall the two codes but two codes appeared both for the heater grid relays. How ever at the end of winter last year a battery terminal on the passenger side literally melted for some reason. I know how to use this feature and I know it was working last winter. I tried it multiple times and it wouldn’t work. Pressed cruise control, it lit up on dash and the. It’s high 80’s here and I went to show the feature to a friend which I know worked previously. Ok all, I have an 04 5.9 auto and I haven’t used my high idle/cruise control since last year.
